A life in ash
On making objects that become part of the room.
Ash has an openness that we return to. Its grain records the tree’s growth without asking for attention. In the Rive table, broad surfaces meet in a simple half-lap joint. There is no concealed structure; the way it stands is the way it is made. An oil finish brings out the grain and allows the surface to be renewed over time.
